Lit-Link Basics:

Open/Close:

To OPEN Lit-Link: Double-click Lit-Link icon or select from Apple menu or Start menu in Windows 95/98.

• Enter Your Password: __________. (If on a network, you may first need a password to access the server:___________)

• (optional) Log-In by selecting your work group & user name from pop-up lists on the Log-In screen or on the Launch Pad.

To OPEN A MODULE:

• Go to the Launch Pad using the Launch Pad button. (Lit-Link can be set to open automatically to this screen.)

• pick module: click on module name for info, click on triangular module icon to open.

To SELECT A SCREEN:

•Click on a screen button (IN for Intake - Place for address, etc)

•Click again to switch between List or Detail.

To CHOOSE ANOTHER MODULE:

•Click on Launch Pad (OM Page) button, click on module icon to open.

To QUIT:

•Click on Launch Pad button,

•Click on Quit button.

Getting Help:

Click on Info Menu button:

• The Launch Pad button provides info about launching modules.

• The Screen Hints button describes the main features of the the screeen you're on.

• The Guide button Guides you through a task.

• The Support button gives TECHNICAL SUPPORT options.

• The Reference button gives definitions of TERMS.

• The Tutorial button gives an interactive look at database basics, and Lit-Link screens and functions.

• The Purpose button gives you INFO about a module.

Creating Records:

To CREATE new records:

• Click on Create Menu button.

• Click on a choice (eg. Basic Entry or New Intake).

• Enter data into new blank record.

Finding records:

To FIND records:

• Click on Find Menu button.

• Click on a choice (eg. Find Name, etc).

• Enter search criteria

• Click on Find button, or press enter key.

OR

• Click on any preset Find button


To FIND MARKED records:

• Click on Find Marks button.

Omitting records:

To temporarily OMIT records:

• Click on Exist Menu button.

• Click on a choice (eg. Omit, Omit Others).

OR

• Press keyboard shortcut Command/Ctrl M.

Sorting records:

To SORT records:

• Click on Sort Menu button.

• Click on a choice (Last Name, etc).

OR

• Click on any Sort button.

Marking records:

• Click on Clear Marks button (unless you wish to add to previous marks)

• To MARK: click on single Mark button to Mark a record, or Mark Set button to Mark the found set of records.

• To UNMARK: click on single Mark button to unmark a marked record or Mark Set button to unmark the found set.

• To FIND MARKS: click on Find Marks button .

SavedSet (Saving a set of records):

 

 (Saving/Finding/Modifying a set of records from People or Priority modules only):

 

• To SAVE a set: Find desired records in the People or Priority modules only.

• Click on Create Menu and select Save Set.

• When the SavedSet module screen updates, name the set.

• Press the enter key or click on Go Back button

• To FIND a set: click on Find Menu and select SavedSet to enter the SavedSet module.

• When the SavedSet module screen updates, scroll through the set list

• To view a set: select a record, click on View Set button.

-to open selected set of records in People (or Priority) module: click on the Go to "(selected set)"button.

-to exit: press the enter key or click on Go Back button




• To MODIFY a set: click on Find Menu and select SavedSet.

• When the screen updates, scroll through the set list

• To view a set: select a record, click on View Set button.

• To remove a record: click on the Minus symbol next to that record.

• To add a record: click in the Add contact field near the top of the screen. Type the first letters of the first name and select a name from the pop-up list. Click on the Add button.

• To open modified set of records in People (or Priority) module: click on the Go to "(selected set)" button.

• To exit: press the enter key or click on Go Back button

Matching:

• Go to Match screen (List or Detail): -Click on Match screen button, -Click again to switch between List or Detail.

• Find a particular Student, Peer, or Tutor to be matched (click on Find Menu, preset find buttons, or keyboard shortcut).

• Select record (click on it) and click on Choose button.

 

• Click on Auto-match buttons to retrieve a list of possible matches for the chosen record.

• Compare chosen and found records on the Match Detail screen for matching suitability.

• Click on Appoint button to create the match.

Printing:

• Click on Repro menu button and select Print Options, or go to Map screen for all printing options.

• Select a print page (click on it).

• Click on the Setup button to set printing parameters (eg. page orientation, size, etc.).

• Click on the Preview button to see how page will appear when printed. Press Continue when done.

• Click on the Print button. (Print dialog box: select number of copies. In Lit-Link/FileMaker pop-up: Select "Current record" or "Records Being Browsed"). Press Print.

Deleting Records:

To DELETE records:

• Click on Exist Menu button.

• Click on a choice (eg. Omit, Delete).
